The Department of Law, Governance and International Relations (LGIR)
The Department is one of the largest in the university, with over one hundred academic staff. Its undergraduate and postgraduate programmes are approved by the Law Society and the Quality Assurance Agency, as appropriate, and have been awarded the highest category of excellence. Staff in the department have a high output of research publications and many also engage in consultancy work overseas. The Department is a major contributor to the university’s Global Policy Institute and Human Rights and Social Justice Institute. It has particular expertise in the areas of international relations, governance, public administration, law and international law. Head of Department is Professor Robert McKeever, who joined London Metropolitan from Reading university in 2006. Professor McKeever is a renowned expert in the field of American politics and has experience of introducing a successful MA programme to the Gulf area.
