Management Development Centre International and London Metropolitan University (subject to validation)

London Metropolitan University

The University is the largest in London, with some 35,000 undergraduate and postgraduate students. Its roots date back to the early nineteenth century, but it took its present form in 2002 after the merger of two smaller universities, London Guildhall University and the University of North London. Its main campuses are in the historic City, the financial heart of the UK, and in the lively area of Islington. With students and staff from over one hundred and twenty countries, the university is well-placed to deliver on its strap-line of ‘Shaping London: a World City’.

Quality Assured

At the heart of the University’s Academic Vision is a commitment to excellence in teaching and research and a dynamic engagement with the international community. As with all official UK universities, London Metropolitan is subject to the Quality Assurance Agency (QAA). In 2005 the QAA conducted an institutional audit of the University and awarded it its highest possible rating of ‘broad confidence’. In line with its international outlook, London Metropolitan is also the first UK university to be approved by the European University Association. Moreover, the University is currently in the final stages becoming accredited by the Middle States Consortium for Higher Education of the United States. London Metropolitan is thus in the vanguard of UK universities in attaining the quality benchmarks in higher education of the European Union and the United States, as well as the UK.

Applied Research

London Metropolitan is especially committed to applied research. This we define as research and knowledge-transfer that can help to solve real-world problems wherever they may occur. Whether the application of our research takes the form of advanced educational programmes or consultancy and training, it has as its goal the transformation of individuals, institutions and communities. Because of its large pool of expertise, London Metropolitan conducts both single and multi-disciplinary research. The University has nine Research Institutes which bring together scholars from different academic disciplines and it is also developing a number of Research Strands to investigate broad issues from a multi-disciplinary perspective.
